Dear Colleagues,
Dear Friends,
We are delighted to extend our warm invitation to the 14th Annual Meeting of the European Society for the Perioperative Care of the Obese Patient (ESPCOP), held in conjunction with the Bariatric Endoscopic Surgery Trends (BEST) meeting. This year, we are excited to include the Opioid Free Anesthesia (OFA) meeting for the fourth time, focusing on OFA implementation in various surgical procedures.
Mark your calendars for December 11-12, 2023, as this remarkable event will take place in the picturesque town of Bruges, Belgium. Distinguished experts from around the world will gather to discuss live procedures, engage in pro-con debates, and deliver keynote sessions aimed at enhancing perioperative care for obese patients beyond the scope of traditional "bariatric surgery."
We would like to draw your attention to an additional workshop on lung ventilation, where we will explore the mechanism of peripheral airway closure and lung atelectasis using pig lungs and different mechanical ventilators. This hands-on experience will further enhance our understanding of these critical aspects.
For a select group, there is also an exclusive opportunity to observe live anesthesia cases at Sint Jan Hospital Bruges from December 13-14, 2023. These sessions will provide valuable insights into previously discussed topics, including opioid-free anesthesia, perioperative airway management, and ventilation, all taking place within the operating rooms.
We eagerly anticipate the presence of you and your surgeon as a united team at this joint meeting, where we will delve into diverse approaches to OFA.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bruges and anticipate an enriching experience for all.
Best regards,
Jan P. Mulier
